Forest of Resonating Lamps: One Stroke (2016-present) Creativity🟦+ Impact🟪: 92%
teamLab’s Forest of Resonating Lamps: One Stroke is an interactive installation composed of Murano glass lamps suspended at varying heights in a mirrored room. When a person stands still close to a lamp, it shines brightly and emits a sound, spreading light to the two closest lamps. The light divides in two and passes through all lamps once, creating a single trajectory. The lamp arrangement is mathematically determined so drawing a line between closest lamps creates a unicursal stroke with the same starting and ending point. Light will always pass through every lamp exactly once before returning to the original starting point. Seasonal variations include Cherry Blossoms, Wisteria, Summer Forest, Ice Cave, and Fire, each featuring colors inspired by traditional Japanese Kasane no Irome layered colors. First presented at Maison et Objet Paris in 2016.
